Visa Secure and eftpos Secure

Visa Secure and eftpos Secure are available online at participating businesses. When you make an online purchase using your Heritage Visa Debit or Credit Card you may be guided through an additional check to verify your identity. This helps Heritage know you’re really you, and it better protects you from fraud.

About

What is Visa Secure and eftpos Secure?

Visa Secure and eftpos Secure provide an extra layer of authentication to your online purchases from participating businesses.

Each time you make an online purchase with a participating business, Visa Secure or eftpos Secure will check the transaction. If it seems out of the ordinary, you may be guided through an additional check to verify your identity. This may be because you're making a high dollar value transaction, or purchasing from a business you’ve never bought with before.

Visa Secure is available on all Heritage cards and eftpos Secure is now available on debit cards.

Getting started

If a business participates in Visa Secure or eftpos Secure and your purchase requires additional verification, a pop-up window will be displayed during your checkout.

You'll see the details of your transaction and a field to enter a One Time Password. The code will be sent to the mobile number registered on your Heritage account.

Once you receive the code, type this into the One Time Password field, and press submit. The code will be verified and your payment will be authorised.

Stay scam aware

Never disclose your code or One Time Password to anyone, including your bank. This includes over the phone, by SMS or email. If you're unsure about the legitimacy of a request for a one-time code from Heritage, you can call us to check on 13 14 22.

Before completing an online transaction, read the delivery and return policies on the online store’s home page. Find out if you can return items and who bears the cost.

  6. Keep a record of your transactions
Keep a record of your transactions - just in case you need to return an item or have a question about your purchase.
