Learn more about this data leak.

3 June 2024

Two global ticketing competitors have reportedly recently had their systems hacked: Ticketmaster and Ticketek. These incidents are not related to any Heritage systems, however we encourage our members to contact us if they have any concerns.

Ticketmaster - what happened?

Cybercriminals may have breached Ticketmaster’s security systems. The information allegedly obtained includes names, addresses, credit card numbers, phone numbers, and payment details of Ticketmaster customers.

This security breach may pose a serious risk to affected individuals, including the possibility for potential identity fraud and phishing attacks.

Ticketek - what happened?

A completely different entity to Ticketmaster, Ticketek was reportedly hacked soon after. While it is understood the Ticketmaster hack was international, current information suggests the Ticketek hack has exclusively affected Australians so the impact may be more limited.

Ticketek Australia has reported that names, dates of birth and address details of some of the customers has been breached however, payment details, including credit card numbers, have not been compromised. Ticketek Australia are notifying those affected.

How might this affect you?

Both hacks appear to involve compromised personal data of those who have purchased tickets via these systems. The full extent of these hacks are yet to be revealed though in both cases it is possible that some of our members have had their personal details compromised. Vigilance remains crucial.

As a member of Heritage Bank you should be cautious about any email communications purporting to be from Ticketmaster or Ticketek and avoid sharing personal information with any unknown entities.

With cyber-attacks occurring more frequently, we recommend implementing additional safeguarding measures such as multi-factor authentication.

As technology evolves, so do threats so be sure to be proactive in safeguarding your digital life.
