Heritage Palmwoods Community Branch has helped lighten the fundraising load for 37 Sunshine Coast community groups after handing out over $210,000 at its annual sponsorship evening.
Each year, Heritage Palmwoods Community Branch Sponsorship Evening sees community groups from Palmwoods and surrounding areas receive much-needed funding towards local events and initiatives.
This year’s beneficiaries range from grass roots sporting clubs to schools and not-for-profit organisations, with sponsorships going towards facility upgrades, new equipment, maintenance, and community events. As with previous years, the evening was filled with fun and laughter, underlining the tremendous sense of community, camaraderie and connection carefully nurtured by the branch over the past 18 years.
Heritage Palmwoods Community Branch is a joint venture between Heritage Bank and the local community, represented by Palmwoods Community Branch Ltd (PCB Ltd). It was established after 99 local investors raised $200,000 in capital to help set up the branch in 2006. Under the Heritage community branch model, profits are shared between Heritage and PCB Ltd. PCB Ltd’s share of the profits then goes back to the community via grants and sponsorships to deserving local organisations and events.
Since opening, Heritage Palmwoods Community Branch has injected over $11.5 million back into the community through grants, sponsorships, local employment and more.
Kaye Ross, Heritage Bank National Manager – Community Branches said, “Our community branches offer a unique opportunity for people to be a part of creating positive impacts for their region, just by doing their everyday banking with us.
“Heritage Palmwoods Community Branch is a great example of how our community branch model helps keep local banking services for smaller communities while giving give back.
PCB Ltd Director Audrey Lyttle thanked the community for their ongoing support on behalf of the PCB Ltd Board and Heritage Palmwoods Community Branch team.
“On behalf of the directors and staff, I want to thank everyone who supports our community branch,” said Mrs Lyttle.
“The operations of the branch would not be possible without community support, and I can’t overemphasise how important it is to come in to do your banking.
“Apart from the fact that the personal service is what sets our branch apart, it allows us to give back to our community in the form of our community sponsorships,” she said.
“The more our branch is supported, the more we can contribute to our wonderful community.”
