A donation from Heritage Bank is helping to ensure vulnerable women in our community have access to essential sanitary products and are afforded the dignity many take for granted.
Heritage made the special presentation at its Tweed Heads Branch, to women's charity Share the Dignity. They received a cheque for over $3,220 as a beneficiary of monies raised from the sale of Heritage Bank’s 2022 calendar.
Each year since 1982, Heritage has chosen a prominent Queensland house to feature on its annual calendar to help celebrate excellence in local architecture. Members and community members can obtain a copy of the calendar for a gold coin donation, with the proceeds then donated to a number of charities around southern Queensland and New South Wales.
Rochelle Courtenay from Share the Dignity said, “We are so thankful to Heritage for their generous donation to ensure women, girls and those who menstruate can manage their period with dignity, and have access to the very basic of essentials.
“Share the Dignity works to make a real, on-the-ground difference in the lives of women and girls experiencing homelessness, fleeing domestic violence or doing it tough. This donation will help us continue our work in distributing sanitary items to women and girls who desperately need access to period products.”
Heritage Area Branch Manager Alishia Morris said, “It can be extremely isolating for at-risk women already experiencing extreme hardship to be forced to choose between essentials like food and period products.
“Share the Dignity provides much-needed support for people facing adversity and we’re absolutely delighted to present them with these funds so they can continue making a positive difference in the community.”
