A revamped food van for the homeless will soon be hitting the streets of Logan thanks to funds raised from the sale of Heritage Bank’s annual calendar.
Staff at Heritage’s Springwood branch were delighted to present $3,594 to representatives from Touch of Hope, a charity that assists the homeless by providing meals, care products, and other support.
Touch of Hope will use the donation to transform a van into a mobile food van to make it easier to provide hot meals to people experiencing homelessness throughout Logan and surrounding areas.
Heritage staff first heard about A Touch of Hope after they opened an account at their Springwood branch. It was only fitting that the Springwood branch then had the pleasure of sharing the good news with them.
Heritage Springwood Branch Manager Nicole Beam said, “They were so surprised and extremely thankful when we contacted them about the donation. To build the excitement, we kept the amount a secret until they arrived to collect the cheque – it was beyond their expectations!
“We’re so proud to support a fantastic grass-roots organisation like A Touch of Hope.
“These funds will go a long way to helping them get a mobile food van up and running for those doing it tough in our community.”
Each year since 1982, Heritage has chosen a prominent Queensland house to feature on its annual calendar to help celebrate excellence in local architecture. Customers and community members can obtain a copy of the calendar for a gold coin donation, with the proceeds then donated to a number of charities around southern Queensland.
