Heritage Bank and Legacy have joined forces to encourage the people of the Toowoomba region to give generously to the 2017 Legacy Badge Appeal this week.
Heritage Bank proudly presented a cheque for $1000 to Legacy Toowoomba to boost the charity’s valuable support for the families of war veterans.
Regional Sales Manager for the Darling Downs, Mr Kevin Gates, said Heritage was delighted to continue their support for this great cause.
“Buying a Legacy Badge is a simple way for people to express their gratitude for the sacrifice that our servicemen and women and their families have made.
“Legacy operates off the back of the passion and dedication of its volunteers and the generosity of the public. We’re delighted to do our bit to help them continue the important services they provide in our community.”
Toowoomba Legatee Mike Dwight said Heritage’s donation, along with funds raised during the 2017 Legacy Badge Appeal, would go a long way in assisting the families of deceased personnel.
“In the Toowoomba area alone, Legacy supports over 600 widows and their dependants,” Mr Dwight said.
“Importantly, all the funds raised in the area stay in our community and help us continue to provide essential services such advocacy and financial and social support.
Mr Dwight said Legacy is one of the few, if not only, organisation in the world focused on supporting widows and dependants of defence force personnel.
“There a lot of organisations focused on current serving or returned personnel; our focus is on supporting the families left behind after losing a loved one on military service or in training.
“I encourage the community to dig deep and show their support and appreciation for service personnel by supporting the appeal.”
