Funds raised from Heritage Bank’s much-loved calendar have helped purchase four new wheelchairs to assist amputees in Logan.
Heritage recently presented a cheque for $4,720 to Amputees and Family Support Group (AFSG), based in Logan, from funds raised by the sale of Heritage Bank’s annual calendar at branches all around southern Queensland.
The calendar is an annual tradition that started back in 1982. Each year, Heritage chooses a prominent Queensland house to feature on its annual calendar, to help celebrate excellence in local architecture.
Customers and community members can then obtain a copy of the calendar for a gold coin donation, with the proceeds then donated to a number of charities around southern Queensland.
Thanks to proceeds from the 2017 Calendar, AFSG now has additional wheelchairs to use for peer support visits and to loan to recent amputees.
Heritage Bank Loganholme Customer Service Supervisor Nicole Beam was absolutely delighted to present the group with the cheque, having nominated them as a beneficiary.
“Late last year a member of AFSG came into the branch to do their banking and I learnt all about the group and the fantastic services they offer. The work they do is particularly close to my heart as my brother unexpectedly underwent leg amputation above the knee last November.
“Besides providing and encouragement to amputees and their families through peer support, social activities, loan equipment, home and hospital visits, they have also run a camp for amputees between ages 12 -21 who are born with a limb difference or amputation.
“It’s a wonderful feeling for us at Heritage to come together with the wider community to support worthy recipients like AFSG and help them continue to make a positive difference.”
